From 1995 to 1998 he was involved as design and analysis engineer of a private engineering firm, SENER S.A, in several aerospace projects. Since 2007, he is Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad del País Vasco (UPV/EHU). In 2015, the Spanish Ministry of Education accredited him as Full Professor. His research interests are advanced mechanical design and analysis, computational kinematics of planar and spatial mechanisms, particularly parallel manipulators, and biokinematics. He has been involved as a researcher in 30 institutional projects at regional, national and European level. In addition, he has been involved in 25 research projects directly in cooperation with companies. He has published 38 papers (31 JCR + 7 non-JCR) in international journals and 16 papers in Spanish journals. Also, he has been co-editor of three Springer books related to Robotics and Micromachines. He is co-author of 4 international patents. Currently he is Chairman of the IFToMM Technical Committee for Linkages and Mechanical Controls (LMC TC).
